I'm having trouble using the Detailsview control, I can display the information within the default boundfields and include a edit, delete buttons which botth work fine. But i'm trying to validate the users input so I changed some of the boundfields to templatefields and included validation controls.however, I dont like to let things like this beat me (even if I have to come begging for help). I have a database table in MS SQL with a sector_id (integer identity) and n... I have event handlers for both the Updating, and Updated event.
I also dynamically create the Update Parameters when the user clicks an Update button.
Everything appears to be wired up correctly (the correct values are sent to the database when the Update button is clicked) and I want various data bound Drop Down List controls to be refreshed to reflect the updated data.
I have tried setting Enable View State as required for details View throughout my codebehind file instead but this doesn't have any effect - either I always see the details View or the Update fails. When I set Auto Generate Rows to true, everything works fine.
Can you tell me - have I missed the point with View State entirely??! You can't bind a Calendar But I am using a Data Set to color-code day cells on the Day Render event I got it using Response. However, when i set it to false, and generate rows dynamically using Template Field - Item Updating stops working (but Item Deleting works! This is very strange, here's the code (this is user control which contains only asp:details View, so place it on any page to test it) Details View Item Updating event does not fire I have a Details View control to which I am binding the results of a Linq-to-XML query.
The standard Command Field column control has been used in Details View to provide Edit - Update/Cancel buttons and that all worked fine with Item Updating getting called and processed correctly. Firing an event handler on an button which is generated dynamically in an user control present in update panel I have created an user control which is placed in update panel. the point here whne the row is selected in gridview the detailsview works fine.
The problem is when I want to make one of the grid rows unselectable - when the user hits Select on the grid I want the Details View to be cleared and a message displayed saying "You cannot view this record". Visible = false but I wanted to actually clear the details View altogether so I tried adding Enable View State=false to my Details View, and that appeared to do the trick: blah.aspx: However, when I then went to try editing and updating again it fell apart - Edit mode is entered correctly but when you click the Update linkbutton the Details View list disappears, but no info has been sent to the server, no Item Updating event has been fired and Edit mode is actually still active in the background! In the user control i have placed an dynamically generated table in which one cell consist of generated button.i have written an event handler for it but is not firing on the click of that button.i am attaching a sample code for it plese look into it. if i click the detailsview edit button it shows the data right, but when i edit the data in detailsview the Details View1_Item Updating event does not fire!! i think it is some thing related with the ajax panel configuration but i'm not sure.thanks in adavanc Muhanad YOUNISMCSD. Item Updating event not fired for Details View I have problem with Item Updating event in Details view.
Or is this just a glitch with the Command Field Update button and/or Details View? Item Updated Event (w/o Update Panel) Is there a way to refresh a Calendar control on the Details View. Do not have the option of using the Update Panel control. I want the default view to be Read Only and to display an edit icon to switch to edit mode.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome, and if you need any more code info just yell! When in edit mode, I want to display save/cancel icons to commit or cancel the update.
The columns from the sqldatasource display fine in the Details View and I can edit them.
